MoHAP Celebrates Strategic Partnerships Boosting Health And Wellbeing Initiatives

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) recently celebrated the significant contributions of its partners in the Health Promotion Department. This recognition underscores the pivotal role these collaborators play in the successful execution and implementation of health and wellbeing initiatives. The ceremony, hosted at the ministry's headquarters, saw the attendance of Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector, Nouf Khamis Al Ali, Director of the Health Promotion Department, alongside officials, MoHAP employees, and representatives from strategic partners spanning government, private sectors, and suppliers.

This event aligns with MoHAP's overarching strategy to bolster cooperation with its partners. The aim is to achieve ambitious health goals, drive health sector development, and enhance the quality of healthy living. It also serves to spotlight the critical role partnerships play in public health improvement.

MoHAP Honours Health Initiative Partners

During his opening speech, Dr. Al Rand emphasized the ministry's dedication to forging productive partnerships with key stakeholders across federal and local governments, as well as the private sector. These collaborations are foundational for launching effective awareness campaigns aimed at boosting health awareness, promoting healthy behaviours among citizens, and supporting MoHAP's strategic vision towards a future where health and wellbeing are universally accessible.

"Through this ceremony, we look forward to keeping our partners updated with recent developments and methodologies adopted by the Health Promotion Department," Dr. Al Rand remarked. He highlighted the importance of refreshing performance metrics, enhancing services, and supporting sustainable development in line with MoHAP’s strategic plans.

Al Ali expressed gratitude towards both partners and supporters for their contributions to the department's programmes, projects, and health initiatives throughout 2023. She also shared insights into the department’s achievements and its health awareness plan for 2024. "These strategic partnerships are crucial for building a comprehensive and integrated health system," Al Ali stated.

The ceremony honoured 48 partners and supporters, including 32 private entities and 16 government bodies that have supported health initiatives spearheaded by MoHAP’s Health Promotion Department.

A highlight of the department’s initiatives is the "Positive Healthy Work Environment-Check" programme's third phase. This initiative aims to empower employers to improve their employees’ health and encourage healthy living habits. It also seeks to create a supportive work environment for health. So far, it has engaged 25 federal and local government entities over its first two phases, with participation from approximately 2,500 employees.

Additionally, the department has launched a public campaign to raise awareness about the risks associated with smoking products and their implications on public health. Other initiatives focus on obesity prevention among children and adults, alongside various programmes dedicated to enhancing community health.
