MoHAP Unveils Results Of 'Your Pulse' Project To Enhance Cardiovascular Health In The UAE
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has shared the outcomes of its "Your Pulse" initiative, a national system for early detection of cardiovascular disease risk. Alongside this, results from the 2023-2024 National Campaign for Early Detection of Hypertension were also revealed. These initiatives support the UAE's strategy to foster a culture that embraces change and aligns with future needs.
During an event in Dubai, MoHAP announced these results in collaboration with strategic partners from various sectors. Partners included Emirates Health Services, Department of Health-Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health, American Hospital, Mediclinic, Life Pharmacies, and United Medical Centre. Telecommunications partners like e&, du, and several academic institutions across the UAE were also involved.

The "Your Pulse" project successfully reached 95% of attendees at healthcare centres within government health authorities. It covered 80% of the target demographic by implementing an early intervention system for individuals aged 40 and above who are at high risk. This system provides medical advice and essential treatments to those identified.
A standardised protocol for calculating the Framingham Cardiovascular Risk Score has been adopted across all government health facilities. This protocol aims to reduce cardiovascular disease mortality by 33% by 2030, aligning with national and global health indicators.
The National Campaign for Early Detection of Hypertension ran from June to August 2023-2024. Over 70,000 citizens and residents participated. The campaign found that 13.2% were aware of their hypertension and receiving treatment, while 4% were newly diagnosed. It also highlighted links between hypertension, obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking.
Dr. Hussain Al Rand emphasised that these projects will significantly support innovative government strategies. These strategies employ short-term transformation cycles focusing on real results rather than traditional ministry-led initiatives.
Strategic Health Initiatives
This approach highlights transformative projects' central role in future government work while aiming to build a healthier future aligned with "We the UAE 2031" Vision. Dr. Al Rand noted that ensuring cardiovascular health will help reduce premature mortality through prevention, early diagnosis, and advanced healthcare for all.
The UAE is recognised as a global leader in healthcare by adopting best practices and developing an integrated health system. The results will shape future health policies and direct resources according to anticipated needs to build a sustainable society where everyone enjoys a high quality of life.
Commitment to Public Health
Dr. Buthaina Bin Belaila outlined the national plan to combat non-communicable diseases through prevention based on international best practices and scientific evidence. The ministry has developed a plan with its partners to manage preventive programs aimed at enhancing quality of life nationwide.
This plan focuses on building healthcare professionals' skills and educating the public on maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular physical activity, nutritious food intake, reducing salt consumption, and quitting smoking.
Dr. Buthaina stressed that this approach represents an institutional commitment to reducing disease spread and improving national health outcomes in line with sustainable development goals.
