Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Explores Innovations At Dubai Airshow 2025
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the Dubai Airshow 2025 at Dubai World Central. The event, running from 17th to 21st November 2025, is the largest edition yet, drawing significant players from aviation, defence, and aerospace sectors.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed explored innovations in aviation, defence, and space. He emphasised the importance of technological advancements to enhance regional and global competitiveness. The tour included a review of new civil and military aircraft projects with H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and other senior officials.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the UAE's progress in innovation and research, which has bolstered its status as a leading aviation hub. He highlighted that maintaining this leadership requires partnerships with global aviation leaders and nurturing competitive national talent. Investments in smart infrastructure and advanced airports are crucial for future readiness.
The Dubai Airshow serves as a platform for showcasing innovations shaping the future of aviation and aerospace. Sheikh Mohammed noted that the UAE aims to develop these sectors as key economic drivers within its knowledge- and technology-driven vision.
During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed visited key pavilions featuring commercial and military aircraft, sustainable aviation technologies, air mobility solutions, and defence systems. Briefings on projects aimed at improving air travel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions were also part of his itinerary.
A highlight was the Middle East debut of China's C919 passenger airplane by COMAC. With a capacity of 192 seats, it offers competitive fuel efficiency and operational performance, marking China's entry into the commercial aviation market.
Collaborations and Exhibitions
Sheikh Mohammed toured various pavilions including CATIC's pavilion showcasing China-UAE collaboration; Strata–Mubadala's pavilion highlighting UAE aircraft component innovation; EDGE's pavilion featuring advanced defence technologies; along with LODD and Dubai South pavilions.
This year's event hosts over 1,500 exhibitors including 440 new ones. It attracts 148,000 trade visitors and 490 military and civil delegations from 115 countries. The exhibition features 21 country pavilions with Morocco making its debut alongside 98 chalets.
Showcasing Aircraft Innovations
The event showcases more than 200 aircraft including commercial jets, military planes, private jets, UAVs, and next-generation technologies across flying displays. This marks the largest showcase in the history of the event with an additional 8,000 square metres of exhibition space.
The Dubai Airshow continues to be a pivotal platform for industry leaders to exchange expertise while driving innovation in aviation technology globally. The presence of numerous start-ups alongside established companies highlights ongoing efforts to foster growth within these sectors.
