Mohammed Bin Rashid Opens Third Ordinary Session Of The 18th Legislative Chapter Of FNC
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC) on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
The opening ceremony saw participation from Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, dignitaries, civic and military officials, and members of the diplomatic corps. The session commenced with the reading of Federal Decree No. (151) of 2025 issued by the UAE President to convene this legislative session.
Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, delivered a keynote address during the event. He expressed gratitude to the leadership for their unwavering support that enables Council members to fulfill their duties effectively. Ghobash highlighted that 2025 has been an exceptional year for the UAE with significant achievements across various sectors.
Ghobash noted that declaring 2025 as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of the Family underscores a national emphasis on human values. These themes emphasize belonging, strong family foundations, and shared responsibility in nation-building efforts.
The UAE has made remarkable strides in global competitiveness, security, economy, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and quality of life. It has also advanced its position among leading states in soft power. The approval of the federal budget for 2026—the largest in national history—demonstrates continued growth and confidence in national capabilities.
The UAE continues to play a pivotal role in promoting regional and global peace by supporting dialogue and coexistence. It extends help to those in need while maintaining steadfast support for the Palestinian people.
Commitment to Constitutional Duties
Ghobash affirmed that the Federal National Council remains committed to its constitutional responsibilities. It supports leadership's vision for building a future-ready nation. He concluded his address with a prayer for the nation’s prosperity along with blessings for its leadership and people.
