Mohammed Bin Rashid And Laos Prime Minister Explore Ways To Enhance Bilateral Relations At WGS 2025

During the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025 in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, engaged in discussions with Sonexay Siphandone, the Prime Minister of Laos. The event is themed ‘Shaping Future Governments’ and aims to foster global cooperation.

The meeting was attended by several dignitaries including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai; and other prominent figures. They explored ways to strengthen ties between the UAE and Laos, focusing on economic and technological collaboration.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed gratitude to Siphandone for attending WGS 2025. He highlighted the summit's role in bringing together leaders and decision-makers to promote positive partnerships and enhance government operations for global prosperity. The discussions underscored the importance of expanding cooperation across various sectors.

Siphandone commended the UAE’s progressive policies and development vision, noting their influence as a regional and global model. He expressed a strong interest in deepening Laos-UAE relations through enhanced collaboration facilitated by platforms like WGS.

The WGS 2025 is a significant gathering featuring over 30 heads of state and government, more than 80 international organisations, and 140 government delegations. The summit's agenda includes 21 global forums addressing future trends, over 200 interactive sessions with more than 300 speakers including presidents and experts, alongside numerous ministerial meetings.

Running until February 13th, the summit will also see the release of around 30 strategic reports developed with international knowledge partners. These reports aim to provide insights into major transformations shaping future governance globally.

The meeting also saw participation from H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; and Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation. Their presence highlighted the importance of this high-level dialogue.

Siphandone acknowledged WGS as a crucial platform for empowering governments by enhancing performance and fostering impactful partnerships. This reflects a shared commitment to advancing mutual interests through collaborative efforts at such international gatherings.
