Mohammed Bin Rashid Emphasises Media's Vital Role At GDMO Ramadan Gathering
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, participated in the Government of Dubai Media Office’s annual Ramadan media gathering. The event was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, along with key media figures and leaders from local, regional, and international outlets.
During the gathering, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the essential role of media organisations in building advanced societies. He noted that they are crucial for tracking global developments and providing accurate information about events and transformations. This helps raise public awareness and enables people to understand the implications of unfolding events.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the media's role extends beyond just delivering news. He emphasised its importance in fostering creativity and promoting a positive outlook. Honest and responsible media are vital for building stable societies and shaping a better future by upholding truth, accuracy, and objectivity.
Engaging with attendees, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed discussed the UAE media's role in documenting national development over five decades. He highlighted how media have showcased the country's progress across various sectors, earning global acclaim for Emirati achievements.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed urged UAE media leaders to seize opportunities to enhance their institutions' capabilities in technology, human resources, and organisational skills. He stressed training a new generation of Emirati media professionals who can keep pace with global trends while setting new industry benchmarks.
He also pointed out that Dubai is more than just a city hosting premier media outlets; it is a hub for creativity and innovation. Efforts are ongoing to make Dubai a top destination for media professionals and creatives, driven by the belief that responsible media play a vital role in societal progress.

The gathering saw H.H. Sheikh Mohammed engaging with prominent Arab and international media leaders, distinguished writers, thinkers, influencers, and content creators. Notable attendees included H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum; H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum; Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed; and Sheikh Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim.
