Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Attends Fashion Friday Event At Meydan Racecourse In Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, recently attended the celebrated ‘Fashion Friday’ event at Meydan Racecourse. This occasion is a significant part of the Dubai Racing Carnival and a notable event in the regional horse racing calendar, known for its high-quality international races.

The event featured nine races across various group categories, with 99 horses competing for a total prize pool of AED10.53 million. Among these was the Group 1 Al Maktoum Challenge, the sixth race of the evening, which serves as an important preparatory race for the Dubai World Cup. This race covers 2,000 metres on dirt and offers prize money of AED3.68 million.

The Group 1 Jebel Hatta was another key highlight of the evening. As the seventh race, it acts as a precursor to the Dubai Turf. This race spans 1,800 metres on turf and has a prize pool of AED1.85 million. The evening also included races from Group 2 and Group 3 categories like the Al Fahidi Fort over 1,400 metres and the Blue Point Sprint.

The programme commenced with the Al Maktoum Challenge for Purebred Arabian horses, a Group 2 race that set an exciting tone for the night. The event also featured notable races such as the Group 3 Al Shindagha Sprint over 1,200 metres and the Al Khail Trophy run over an extended distance of 2,810 metres.

Among those competing was Kabirkhan, last year's champion in one of these prestigious races. Additionally, Laurel River, winner of the 2024 Dubai World Cup, participated in preparation for another attempt at this esteemed title. The UAE 2000 Guineas for three-year-olds was also part of this thrilling lineup.

Since its inception in 2024, ‘Fashion Friday’ has gained significant acclaim by attracting top international horses and strengthening Dubai’s status as a global hub for horse training.

This year’s event showcased elite horses gearing up for the upcoming Dubai World Cup on April 5th, 2025. The gathering underscored Dubai's commitment to excellence in horse racing and its growing influence on the international stage.
