Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Unveils New Master Plan For Expo City Dubai's Future Development

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a new master plan for Expo City Dubai. This decision was made in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The plan aims to enhance Dubai's global stature and future development.

The new master plan positions Expo City Dubai as a central hub for innovation and sustainability. It is set to become a vibrant community for residents and visitors alike. "A decade ago, we paved the way for a new city to rise within Dubai – one that would host the world, drive innovation and sustainability, and propel the UAE into a new era of prosperity," stated His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

Expo City Dubai is strategically located near Al Maktoum International Airport and Jebel Ali Port. This positioning makes it crucial for sectors like trade, logistics, technology, tourism, business, and events. The site will play a significant role in achieving the goals of the 2040 Dubai Urban Master Plan and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The expansion plans aim to establish Expo City as a major player in Dubai's growth. It offers substantial investment opportunities for forward-thinking entities. The city's development aligns with the accelerated growth of the Dubai South area, reinforcing its status as a global hub for trade and tourism.

Expo City spans 3.5 square kilometres and will accommodate over 35,000 residents and 40,000 professionals. The master plan includes DEC's expansion plans to increase its venue size. "Already a global powerhouse for tourism, trade and investment," said H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

The city boasts advanced infrastructure with world-class road networks and public transport systems. RTA has implemented key projects like Route 2020 of the Dubai Metro connecting seven stations across 15 km. The city is also served by bus routes and taxi services linked to sophisticated control centres.

A Visionary Approach to Urban Development

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed highlighted that Expo City embodies Sheikh Mohammed's vision for a future-ready city driving sustainability. "The new master plan... plays a crucial role in achieving the ambitious goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33," he noted.

The approval marks an important milestone following successful events like Expo 2020 Dubai and COP28. The plan further enhances Expo City's role as one of five urban centres on the 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Reem Al Hashimy expressed gratitude towards Sheikh Mohammed's leadership guiding this transformation journey: "The new master plan signals a defining milestone for Expo City Dubai." She emphasised collaboration to maximise social impact contributing to continued growth.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem stated that relocating DP World's headquarters validates their strategic decision due to proximity advantages offered by Logistics Corridor linking Jebel Ali Port with Al Maktoum International Airport.

Khalifa Al Zaffin mentioned how expanding Al Maktoum International Airport provides strategic advantages enhancing businesses' global operations capabilities within Dubai South region aligning with D33 agenda objectives.
