Gary Vaynerchuk Predicts Mobile Phones Will Become Obsolete In Ten Years At BRIDGE Summit 2025

Gary Vaynerchuk, a prominent social media influencer and CEO of VaynerMedia, recently predicted that mobile phones will become outdated, much like pagers and BlackBerry devices. He believes smart glasses will take their place. Known for his foresight in technological trends, Gary shared these insights during the BRIDGE Summit 2025, a major media event.

During his talk titled ‘AI Won’t Wait, Neither Should You,’ Gary highlighted the massive investments by leading tech companies in developing smart glasses. He stated, "Six or seven of the largest technology companies in the world are pouring billions and billions of dollars to win the arms race to own these glasses. And if Meta wins and Meta glasses win, it’s going to be hard for the other social networks to get in there."

Gary emphasised that attention is now the most valuable currency globally, surpassing traditional assets like bitcoin or gold. He noted that AI algorithms are set to significantly influence this currency. "AI is going to be like oxygen. There's no part of our lives that is not going to be affected by this profound technology," he predicted.

Reflecting on how technology affects younger generations, Gary remarked: "Your children are going to wear smart glasses that replace mobiles when they’re adults and be on technology 24 hours a day. Your grandchildren are going to marry AI robots." This statement underscores his belief in the pervasive nature of future technological advancements.

Gary’s career has evolved alongside major technological innovations. He began by launching a website for his father’s wine business in 1996 when internet use was still limited. His journey continued through the rise of social media and mobile phones, leading up to today’s AI and blockchain era.

Drawing parallels between past tech booms and current AI developments, he warned about potential financial losses similar to those seen during the early dot-com days. However, he stressed that such setbacks do not diminish AI's importance: "This is the same movie over and over again. And the fear we have of it [AI] actually reminds me of the way humans reacted when electricity was invented."

Democratising Content Creation

According to Gary, AI algorithms are levelling the playing field for content creation and distribution. He explained that these algorithms evaluate individual content pieces rather than focusing on follower counts. This shift allows more people to gain influence without significant resources.

He praised social media's accessibility: "The most incredible power of social media is that it’s free, allowing content creators to garner more attention." This era offers unprecedented opportunities for individuals and businesses at no cost.

Gary concluded by highlighting AI's role in enabling people worldwide to capture attention without initial investment: "The most significant AI that would probably impact you is happening right now — your ability to amass the single biggest currency in the world: attention." He believes this represents a pivotal moment often underestimated by many.
