Ministry Of Finance Honoured With Sharjah Public Finance Award For Excellence In Cash Management And Financial Services

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has been recognised with the Sharjah Award for Public Finance, securing the title of "Institution Distinguished in Cash Management, Sovereign Funds, and Banking Financial Services" during the award's third edition for 2024-2025. This achievement highlights the ministry's dedication to enhancing its financial system through innovation and maintaining high standards in managing public finances efficiently.

Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, expressed that this accolade from the Sharjah Award for Public Finance validates their continuous efforts to improve the government's financial framework. He stated, "This recognition from the Sharjah Award for Public Finance is a testament to the Ministry of Finance's ongoing efforts to enhance the government's financial system. It also reflects the effectiveness of the policies and initiatives we have implemented to promote efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in the management of public finances."

Ministry of Finance Wins Sharjah Award for Excellence

Amna Hassan Al Shamsi, Director of Financial Policies and Government Accounting Standards at MoF, earned second place in "Outstanding Arab Financial Manager, Outstanding Arab Budget Manager." This award acknowledges her pivotal role in advancing financial policies and boosting government performance efficiency. These accomplishments underscore MoF’s commitment to delivering effective financial services while adopting global best practices.

The award ceremony saw Mariam Mohammed Hassan Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of Government Finance Management at MoF, accepting on behalf of the ministry. The recognition serves as a motivation for MoF to continue enhancing its capabilities and readiness to address global changes. This effort reinforces UAE’s position as a leader in public financial management both regionally and globally.

The Sharjah Award for Public Finance was initiated in 2016 with support from the Arab Administrative Development Organisation. It was inspired by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi’s vision. The award aims to encourage excellence in public financial management across Arab nations by promoting best practices and quality in government operations.

Younis Haji AlKhoori further elaborated on their focus over recent years: "Over the past years, we have focused our efforts on strengthening financial legislation, improving spending efficiency, and adopting global best practices in financial planning and budgeting, in coordination with federal entities to drive the UAE’s strategic economic and fiscal objectives to the next level." He added that this honour embodies teamwork within MoF.

Award Categories Encourage Competitiveness

The third edition of this award was announced last August by Sharjah Finance Department. It aims to motivate government bodies, private sectors, and individuals towards sustainable financial governance practices. The award includes 11 categories each for individuals and organisations, fostering competitiveness while promoting excellence across various areas of financial management.

This recognition not only celebrates individual achievements but also highlights institutional collaboration within MoF. It inspires continued efforts towards strengthening capabilities amidst worldwide changes while reinforcing UAE’s influential role globally.
