Ministry Of Finance Launches Second Phase Of Professional Training Programme For Public-Private Partnerships

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has initiated the second phase of its professional training programme on Public–Private Partnerships (PPP). This initiative aims to enhance government employees' skills in designing and evaluating sustainable projects according to top international standards. The programme's first phase was successful, and now it seeks to aid federal entities in adopting this effective model.

In this phase, the training content is based on a methodology recognised by leading international financial institutions. These include the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank Group. This ensures that participants receive training aligned with global best practices.

Second Phase of PPP Training Programme Launched

Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Under-Secretary for Government Budget and Revenue Sector at MoF, highlighted that this phase is crucial for developing the nation's PPP ecosystem. "We are committed to equipping a group of federal and local government professionals with advanced skills in accordance with international best practices for project preparation and evaluation," he stated.

Al Yateem explained that the focus is on project preparation. Participants will learn to apply internationally accepted frameworks to assessment processes. This approach not only ensures project readiness but also elevates quality standards in future partnership initiatives' design and execution.

The Ministry is dedicated to supporting national competencies by providing advanced professional tools. These efforts aim to strengthen the PPP pathway in line with UAE's strategic directions. The goal is also to establish a developmental model that aligns with the nation's future objectives.

A total of 20 representatives from federal and local entities participated in this programme. Their involvement demonstrates government institutions' commitment to expanding specialised knowledge in PPPs. The programme concludes with a professional assessment designed to evaluate participants’ ability to apply PPP frameworks effectively.

The final assessment will test participants on their capability to conduct project preparation and appraisal processes within a governmental context. This evaluation aligns with the highest international standards, ensuring that all participants are well-prepared for future challenges in this field.
