Ministry Of Energy And Infrastructure Highlights Key Initiatives For Energy Transition At World Utilities Congress

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) is presenting advanced technologies at the World Utilities Congress. These innovations aim to improve demand management and optimise energy and water usage. The Ministry's participation underscores its commitment to accelerating energy transition and ensuring water security, vital for sustainable development.

MoEI is also focusing on ambitious strategies to support the UAE's net-zero target by 2050. This includes the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to triple renewable energy's share by 2030. The strategy also plans to increase clean energy capacity in the total energy mix to 30% by 2030 and boost renewables capacity to 14 GW by the same year.

The National Hydrogen Strategy is another key initiative, aiming for the UAE to become a leader in hydrogen production by 2031. Additionally, MoEI highlights the National Water and Energy Demand Side Management Programme 2050. This programme targets a 40% reduction in energy use and a 51% reduction in water consumption by 2050, compared to usual scenarios.

Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at MoEI, emphasised the importance of the congress as a platform for exchanging knowledge among global experts. He stated, "The congress 2024 is a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge among elite field experts from across the world."

Al Kaabi further noted that MoEI will continue adopting innovative energy and water solutions. These efforts aim to enhance the UAE's position as a global sustainability leader. He added that addressing climate change requires increased investment in clean energy technologies.

"In light of global challenges, adopting more sustainable energy and water solutions has become a necessity," Al Kaabi remarked. "Tackling climate change requires more investment in clean energy and energy efficiency technologies to reduce the carbon footprint and improve the quality of life."

The initiatives presented at the congress reflect MoEI's dedication to sustainable practices. By focusing on renewable resources and efficient management strategies, they aim to meet future demands while reducing environmental impact.
