Middle East ENT Conference Reveals Breakthrough In Chronic Sinus Treatment

In a significant medical advancement, Dr. Moaz Tarbishi, a Consultant ENT and Co-Chairman of the Middle East Academy ENT Conference, has introduced a novel treatment for chronic sinusitis. This technique, unveiled at the conference held at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel, employs a plastic stent that delivers cortisone directly to nasal polyps without affecting other body organs. Remarkably, this stent dissolves after two months, effectively alleviating all sinus-related symptoms.

Chronic sinusitis, characterized by the formation of polyps or inflammation within the sinus lining, leads to mucus blockage, causing nasal congestion and breathing difficulties. Symptoms often include thick discoloured mucus, congestion, and swelling around the eyes and face, significantly impacting the patient's quality of life. While traditional treatments have ranged from surgery to various medications, including antibiotics and nasal sprays, they often presented complications due to systemic cortisone exposure.

New Chronic Sinus Treatment Unveiled

Dr. Tarbishi emphasized the stent's unique ability to target only the affected areas with a minimal cortisone dose over six months. This localized approach not only prevents the broader complications associated with cortisone but also ensures complete symptom relief for patients suffering from sinus issues.

The conference also served as a platform for discussing the latest advancements in ENT-related fields over three days. Topics covered included hearing loss, cochlear implants, rehabilitation for hearing impairments, chronic sinus infections, snoring, sleep apnea, balance disorders, and cutting-edge diagnostic and surgical techniques. Lectures spanned a wide range of subjects from allergic rhinitis and pediatric ENT surgeries to rhinoplasty, head and neck surgery, ear surgeries including vestibular fixation, sinuses treatments, and audiology.

Furthermore, the TSESI Sinus course workshops are set to commence tomorrow at the Neurology and Spine Hospital in Dubai Science Park. These workshops aim to provide extensive training and knowledge sharing opportunities for a broad audience of medical professionals specializing in ENT disciplines.

This innovative treatment approach introduced by Dr. Tarbishi not only marks a significant step forward in managing chronic sinusitis but also highlights the ongoing efforts to enhance patient care through advanced medical technologies and methodologies. The Middle East Academy ENT Conference continues to be a pivotal event for sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration among experts in the field.
