Over 90 MBZUAI AI Students Secure Global Internships In Industry-Leading Initiative
Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has successfully placed over 90 master's and PhD students in top public, private, and multinational organisations globally. This achievement is part of its career services and internship programme.
MBZUAI, the first graduate AI university dedicated to research, prioritises practical experience. Students studying AI disciplines like computer science, computer vision (CV), machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), and robotics must complete compulsory internships.

The university aims to prepare students for AI careers with hands-on experience. This approach helps meet the global demand from companies seeking the next generation of AI experts in a growing tech-driven job market.
With support from MBZUAI's career services team, students are securing international summer placements in countries such as Canada, China, Russia, and Pakistan. They also gain experience at prestigious academic institutions like the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany and Johns Hopkins University in the US.
MBZUAI is recognised by CSRankings as one of the world's top 100 computer science universities. It ranks in the top 20 for specialisations in AI, CV, ML, NLP, and robotics.
Reflecting the UAE’s status as a global AI hub, 31 national companies and government entities will participate in the internship programme in 2024. Key employers include ADNOC, Etihad Airways, Core42, e&, Dubai Police, and Dubai Airports.
Prof Timothy Baldwin, Provost at MBZUAI, stated: "The jump in interest in AI as a tool to drive productivity and innovation has created unprecedented dialogue and collaboration between business and academia and intense competition for talent."
Strong Industry Links
MBZUAI continues to expand its programmes and student body. Supported by strong industry links, graduates gain practical experience working on industry-specific research. This ensures they are ready to make an immediate impact on developing AI-driven solutions.
Many of MBZUAI's 212 alumni choose to stay in the UAE to address significant challenges using their expertise. The university's career services team offers personalised support to connect students with opportunities that align with their career plans.
Students also work at leading data companies and startups within the UAE. These include LibrAI, Invertible AI, LABIB AI, Exafy, VisionLabs, and Mindware.
These initiatives highlight MBZUAI's commitment to fostering talent that can contribute significantly to the evolving field of artificial intelligence.
