Mansoor Bin Mohammed Highlights Success Of Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament's 12th Edition
The Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament has become a prominent event in the UAE, showcasing competitive excellence and community involvement. Since its inception by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, it has grown significantly over 12 editions. The tournament features spirited competitions across various sports, attracting both professional and amateur athletes globally.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, attended several events at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. He watched padel and volleyball matches and cycling races on Meydan streets. His presence highlighted the importance of the tournament in promoting sports in Dubai.
The tournament's international appeal is evident with teams from Belarusian champions Shakhtyor Soligorsk and Italy's Grottazzolina participating. Russian teams WVC Dynamo Moscow and Nova Novokuybyishevsk also compete, showcasing top talent. This diversity enhances local athletes' performance through exposure to elite competition.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor expressed satisfaction with the tournament's success, noting its role in introducing innovative sporting events. "The Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament has always challenged itself while introducing fresh and innovative sporting events that are world-class," he stated. This approach attracts international teams and stars, boosting local athletes' performance.
The tournament fosters community interest in sports, increasing participation across all societal sections. Over 8,000 participants, including professionals and amateurs of both genders, engage annually. The event provides a vibrant atmosphere for fans and families during the Holy Month.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor emphasised the tournament's commitment to inclusivity by supporting people of determination since its start. Special competitions ensure their participation in various sports disciplines, highlighting their passion and perseverance.
Future Aspirations for Dubai as a Sporting Hub
The volleyball competition will conclude this year's edition on March 20 with international stars competing alongside local players. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor praised the high level of competition seen throughout the tournament, particularly noting the UAE national team's No.1 ranking in Asia for padel.
"We are keen to continue organising this tournament and further enhance its sporting and societal dimensions so that Dubai continues to be counted as a top destination for sports," H.H. Sheikh Mansoor emphasised. His vision is to maintain Dubai's status as a leading sports destination globally.
