Maktoum Bin Mohammed Engages With Luxembourg Finance Minister To Enhance Bilateral Cooperation
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, recently held a meeting with Gilles Roth, Luxembourg's Minister of Finance. This meeting took place at the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) offices in One Za’abeel. The discussions aimed to enhance cooperation between the UAE and Luxembourg in various sectors.
The focus was on strengthening ties in finance, trade, innovation, education, and emerging technologies. Both parties recognised the alignment of their strategic priorities in developing resilient economies and robust financial ecosystems. They explored ways to advance bilateral relations through cross-border investments and digital finance linkages.
The UAE's advanced financial infrastructure and progressive regulatory environment were highlighted as key strengths. These factors make the UAE an attractive platform for Luxembourg-based firms aiming for regional and global expansion. The UAE's role as a gateway to international markets for financial institutions was also emphasised during the meeting.
Existing bilateral frameworks and initiatives were reviewed to deepen financial sector cooperation further. Opportunities for collaboration in sustainable finance and financial innovation were explored. This builds on the growing engagement between leading institutions in both countries.
The discussions also covered strengthening institutional ties between sovereign wealth funds and financial centres in both nations. This aims to foster greater collaboration and mutual benefits. The meeting was attended by several notable figures from the UAE, including H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, and Essa Kazim.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum holds multiple roles such as President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports. Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy serves as the Minister of State for International Cooperation. Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini is the Minister of State for Financial Affairs.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani is the Director General of His Highness The Dubai Ruler's Court and Managing Director of ICD. Essa Kazim is the Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Their presence underscores the importance placed on enhancing UAE-Luxembourg relations.
This meeting marks a significant step towards fostering stronger economic ties between the two countries. By focusing on areas like fintech collaboration and sustainable finance, both nations aim to build future-ready economies that can thrive in a rapidly changing global landscape.
