Maktoum Bin Mohammed Engages With Accor Group CEO On Hospitality Sector Growth In Dubai

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, recently engaged in discussions with Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor Group. The meeting took place at the Investment Corporation of Dubai. Sheikh Maktoum highlighted Accor's vital role in bolstering Dubai's hospitality sector and its ambitious expansion plans, capitalising on the emirate's status as a key regional and global tourism hub.

Sheikh Maktoum underscored the UAE's commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with global industry leaders. He emphasised Dubai's efforts to provide comprehensive support to leading hotel groups, aligning with the emirate's vision to make tourism a central pillar of its economy. His Highness reiterated Dubai’s dedication to setting new standards for excellence in hospitality services, enhancing visitor experiences.

The UAE's hospitality sector presents promising opportunities due to its growing prominence on the global tourism and investment map. Sheikh Maktoum noted this growth during his meeting with Bazin. The discussions also covered Accor Group’s operations and diverse hotel portfolio across the UAE, alongside its expansion plans supported by the robust hospitality sector and increasing visitor numbers.

The meeting explored potential collaboration areas between Dubai and Accor Group, aligning with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This agenda aims to solidify Dubai’s position as one of the top three global destinations for business and leisure by 2033. The discussions were attended by several notable figures including Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs.

Accor Group manages over 5,700 properties worldwide, offering 840,000 rooms across 110 countries under more than 45 brands. The company employs a workforce exceeding 330,000 professionals globally. This extensive network highlights Accor’s significant influence in the hospitality industry.

The meeting was also attended by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Managing Director of the Investment Corporation of Dubai; Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; and Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, CEO of Wasl Asset Management Group.

The dialogue between Sheikh Maktoum and Bazin reflects a shared vision for growth within Dubai’s hospitality sector. By leveraging strategic partnerships and expanding operations, both parties aim to enhance Dubai’s appeal as a premier destination for tourists worldwide.
