Strategic Partnership: M42 To Operate Zayed Military Hospital With UAE MoD

M42, a global health leader powered by technology, has announced a strategic investment partnership with the UAE’s Ministry of Defence. This collaboration will see M42 operate and manage Zayed Military Hospital in Al Batayeh, Sharjah, providing top-tier healthcare to over three million people in the UAE's northern regions.

To commemorate this partnership, an investment agreement was signed by Major General Dr. Aysha Sultan Aldhaheri, Executive Director of the Military Health Executive Directorate in the UAE Ministry of Defence, and Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Managing Director and Group CEO of M42. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defence in Abu Dhabi and was attended by Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of Department of Health – Abu Dhabi; and Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42 and Chairman of M42.

M42 & MoD's New Healthcare Venture

M42's involvement will ensure comprehensive and specialised clinical services for communities in the northern UAE. This includes military personnel and their families, guaranteeing access to high-quality healthcare. The partnership aims to integrate the healthcare ecosystem further and deliver advanced medical services through a network of satellite clinics like Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC), Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD), and Healthpoint.

Dr. Aysha Sultan Aldhaheri expressed satisfaction with this unique military-civilian partnership. She stated, "We are pleased with this first-of-its-kind military-civilian partnership between the Ministry of Defence and M42 to deliver world-class medical services to our servicemen, women, their families, and the wider population of the northern regions of the UAE. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing the highest standards of healthcare in the Armed Forces while strengthening our role in the national health ecosystem to improve access to specialised medical care."

Hasan Jasem Al Nowais highlighted the significance of this partnership for expanding healthcare services in the UAE. He said, "Our partnership with the Ministry of Defence is significant, expanding our healthcare footprint in the UAE and helping us deliver specialised healthcare to more people as part of our transformation agenda. Together with the Ministry of Defence, we are bringing advanced services and expertise closer to the northern regions, ensuring the highest quality of care."

This collaboration underscores M42’s role as a leading healthcare partner by adding Zayed Military Hospital – Al Batayeh to its global network spanning 26 countries. It also aligns with M42’s mission to transform healthcare delivery and make high-quality medical care accessible across society.

Recent Expansions

M42 has recently expanded both locally and internationally. They launched a tech-enabled diabetes facility under Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Al Dhafra. Additionally, they partnered with Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company to open an Amana Healthcare facility in Bahrain. These initiatives highlight M42’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions.

Peng Xiao commented on M42’s expansion into northern UAE areas: "M42’s expansion into the UAE’s northern areas aligns with our mission to transform healthcare delivery and make high-quality healthcare accessible to all segments of society. M42 is set to begin full-scale operations at Zayed Military Hospital – Al Batayeh by early 2025. This strategic move will significantly enhance healthcare access for millions living in northern UAE regions while reinforcing M42's position as a key player in global health innovation.
