M42 And Bahrain Royal Medical Services Establish Strategic Alliance To Enhance Healthcare Access And Quality
M42, a global health leader formed by the merger of Mubadala Health and G42 Healthcare, has partnered with Bahrain's Royal Medical Services (RMS). This strategic alliance aims to improve healthcare access and quality across borders. It aligns with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi's efforts to establish the emirate as a healthcare hub, particularly in organ donation and transplantation.
The collaboration marks a significant step in enhancing medical care and knowledge exchange between the two nations. M42 signed its first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RMS to provide heart and lung transplant surgeries for Bahraini patients. This initiative is part of the National Program for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation "Hayat," showcasing Abu Dhabi's expertise in organ transplantation.

The MoU was signed by Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of RMS, and Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, M42 Managing Director and Group CEO. The signing took place at the Arab Health Exhibition and Conferences. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of M42, will play a crucial role in delivering specialised services under this agreement.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's multi-organ transplant center offers advanced transplantation services with multidisciplinary care. As the UAE’s only multi-organ transplant facility, it has completed over 774 transplants since 2017, including 241 in 2024 alone. The hospital is recognised by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi as a Centre of Excellence for Adult Cardiac Surgery.
Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa stated, "This partnership signifies a remarkable synergy between the Abu Dhabi Government and Bahrain, as we work together to enhance healthcare accessibility and outcomes for our communities." He expressed pride in forming this alliance with M42, highlighting their shared commitment to medical excellence.
Hasan Jasem Al Nowais emphasised the importance of this strategic alliance: "M42 is forming strategic collaborations to reshape the future of health and drive impactful global change." He noted that partnering with Bahrain’s RMS allows them to provide life-saving transplant procedures and personalised care, setting a new standard for healthcare delivery in the region.
Comprehensive Medical Advancements
The partnership outlines a comprehensive approach to advancing medical care. In the coming years, it will focus on delivering high-quality medical education and knowledge exchange. Fellowship programmes for clinical staff will be established alongside advanced laboratory diagnostic services like genomics.
Joint research initiatives will aim to advance clinical care in complex medical fields. The development and deployment of new technologies will further enhance care delivery. This collaboration aims to improve healthcare access, awareness, education, service delivery, and health equity across the region.
This strategic alliance between M42 and RMS represents a pivotal moment in regional healthcare development. By combining resources and expertise, both organisations aim to significantly improve patient outcomes while fostering innovation in medical practices across borders.
