Leaders Of Finance Programme Equips Emirati Youth With Government Financial Skills

The Ministry of Finance recently hosted a training event in Dubai, part of the Leaders of Finance initiative under the Youth Financial Advisors Programme. This programme aims to enhance financial literacy among Emirati youth, aligning with the Year of Community. The event underscores the Ministry's dedication to nurturing future leaders in finance.

Participants engaged in sessions from 10th to 13th November, focusing on government financial frameworks and budget analysis. They explored resource allocation, public revenue management, and strategies for handling public debt. Digital transformation in financial systems was also a key topic during this phase.

Youth Training in Government Finance Initiated

Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Government Budget and Revenue Sector, highlighted that the programme provided an in-depth look at the federal budget cycle. It covered revenue management and stages of public–private partnership projects, aiming to deepen understanding of financial planning.

Mariam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Government Financial Management Sector, noted that the initiative bridges academic learning with practical training. Participants gained exposure to public finance procedures, including account closing and asset management.

Ali Abdullah Sharafi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for International Financial Relations, explained that the programme introduced frameworks for cooperation with international organisations. It also highlighted Gulf economic integration and training opportunities in global financial institutions.

Fatima Yousef Al Naqbi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for the Support Services Sector, emphasised investment in national talent. The Ministry aims to equip youth with skills aligned with the We the UAE 2031 vision.

Taxation and Sustainable Development

Shabana Aman Khan Begum, Executive Director of the Tax Policy Sector, stated that key sessions familiarised youth with the UAE tax system. Discussions focused on taxation's role in fiscal justice and sustainable development while stressing transparency and efficiency in tax policy implementation.

The programme featured specialised presentations from all Ministry sectors. These included budget preparation principles, resource allocation strategies, and cooperation with international institutions. The role of digital transformation and recent tax legislation were also discussed.

The Leaders of Finance initiative is a central project within the Youth Financial Advisors Programme. Established alongside the Federal Youth Authority, it aims to prepare Emirati youth for leadership roles in public finance. The initiative seeks to strengthen national financial awareness and develop sustainable fiscal policies enhancing UAE's economic competitiveness.
