Latifa Bint Mohammed Recognises Simon Squibb With One Billion Award At Global Content Creator Summit
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, awarded the ‘One Billion Award’ to UK content creator Simon Squibb. This award, valued at US$1 million, is the largest recognition for impactful content creators globally. It aims to inspire creators to drive social change and promote compassion and empathy within society.
The 1 Billion Followers Summit, organised by the UAE Government Media Office from 11th to 13th January, hosted over 15,000 content creators and influencers. Held at venues like Dubai’s Emirates Towers and the Museum of the Future, it featured more than 420 speakers and 125 CEOs under the theme ‘Content for Good.’
H.H. Sheikha Latifa emphasised that the award reflects the UAE's commitment to fostering a thriving environment for creatives under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The initiative encourages content creators to share inspiring messages globally.
She stated, "Meaningful and positive content holds transformative power, shaping our societies and fostering innovative thinking. We take immense pride in hosting such pioneering initiatives that inspire content creators across various disciplines to contribute groundbreaking ideas in the service of humanity, creating tangible, enduring positive change for individuals and communities worldwide."
Simon Squibb was honoured for his empowering content that inspires individuals to achieve their dreams. His work demonstrates how determination can drive meaningful change, supporting social initiatives and addressing global challenges. Squibb's digital audience exceeds nine million followers across social media platforms.
A British entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Squibb started his first business at age 15 after leaving school. He later founded Fluids in China and invested in several enterprises. Transitioning online, he created ‘HelpBnk,’ offering free business advice to empower others.
Judging Panel and Award Criteria
A panel of global experts selected Squibb for the award. Judges included Ahmed ElGhandour, Prajakta Koli, Zachery Dereniowski, Amine Imnir, and Hassan Suleiman (AboFlah). The award attracted over 16,000 submissions from 190 countries.
Entries must demonstrate innovation and originality while adhering to social media standards. They should focus on a specific topic and align with community ethics. High-quality design standards are essential alongside fostering engagement among a broad audience.
Summit Highlights
The summit successfully gathered over 15,000 participants from around the world. H.H. Sheikha Latifa praised its role in advancing excellence within the digital landscape and strengthening the creative economy.
