Khalifa University Sets Benchmark In UAE With Top 1% Research Journal Publications

Khalifa University of Science and Technology has achieved a significant milestone by ranking first for publications in the top 1 percent Journal Percentiles according to CiteScore Percentile, with a remarkable total of 125 papers published in 2023. This achievement places the university ahead of its peers in the UAE, showcasing a substantial 40 percent increase from the previous year, where it published 89 research papers in similarly prestigious journals. The university's consistent growth in research excellence is further underscored by its leadership in the top 5 percent Journal Percentiles by CiteScore Percentile, with an impressive tally of 532 papers for the same year, marking a 39.6 percent increase over 2022.

Dr. Ahmed Al Durra, Senior Vice-President for Research and Development at Khalifa University, highlighted the institution's leading role in pioneering research across various sectors including aerospace, biomedical sciences, energy, robotics, and engineering. With over 300 issued patents, more than 230 pending patent applications, and over 680 invention disclosures, Khalifa University's commitment to high-quality research and deep tech innovation is evident. Dr. Al Durra emphasized the university's success in nurturing talented scientists capable of publishing their work in renowned journals and its significant contributions to scientific advancement both within the UAE and globally through international collaborations.

Khalifa University boasts an extensive research infrastructure with 12 research centres focused on a wide array of projects ranging from low to High Technology Readiness-level (HTR), seven research groups and labs, and seven core labs equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The university's research scope spans across various disciplines including novel approaches for green hydrogen production, materials for storage and transportation, combustion and fuel cells applications, advances in genetics and biochemistry, robotics, decarbonisation, and sustainable fuels.
