H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, recently visited the new headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA). This academy is a part of AD Ports Group and focuses on training national talent for maritime careers. During his visit, Sheikh Khaled explored the campus and its advanced facilities.

Sheikh Khaled was informed about ADMA's core training programmes. These programmes combine theoretical knowledge with practical on-board training and cutting-edge simulation technology. This approach aims to prepare graduates for various roles in collaboration with AD Ports Group's partners locally, regionally, and internationally.

During this visit, Sheikh Khaled was accompanied by several key figures. These included Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group; and Dr Yasser Al Wahedi, President of ADMA.

Comprehensive Educational Offerings

AD Ports Group established ADMA to support the maritime sector with highly qualified personnel. The academy aims to strengthen the UAE's position as a global hub for maritime education, training, research, and innovation. It offers high-quality academic programmes designed to prepare both national and international talent for maritime careers.

The academy covers key disciplines such as shipping operations, marine engineering technology, electro-marine engineering, supply management, and senior officer programmes. Additionally, it provides technical courses on simulation systems and corporate courses on human resources and project management.

Research and Development Initiatives

Apart from education, ADMA is actively involved in maritime research and development. It offers practical solutions like intelligent business monitoring systems and smart vessel technologies. The academy holds seven patents registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

These patents include an AI system that predicts earthquakes by monitoring marine life and another that analyses satellite data to detect carbon emissions. Other innovations include a portable AI-enabled drone detector with a five-kilometre range and an AI system that monitors concentration levels among trainees.

The establishment of ADMA by AD Ports Group underscores its commitment to enhancing the UAE's status as a leader in maritime education. By equipping individuals with necessary skills and knowledge, it aims to meet diverse needs within the sector while fostering innovation through research initiatives.
