Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Recognises Winners Of Emirates International Holy Quran Award Ceremony

Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the inaugural Emirates International Holy Quran Award ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi. H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, honoured the winners at this event organised by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments & Zakat (AWQAF). The ceremony was held at the Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed.

The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Ghaniya Ali Al-Azizi. A short film followed, showcasing the UAE's dedication to supporting the memorisation of the Holy Quran through various initiatives. This includes establishing local and international Quranic centres, a legacy initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The film also detailed the award’s categories and objectives.

Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of AWQAF and the Emirates International Holy Quran Award, expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support. He highlighted that this award enhances efforts to spread and uphold the teachings of the Holy Quran within and beyond the UAE. His Highness's continuous backing enables AWQAF to achieve its goals with excellence.

The ceremony recognised winners who excelled in Quranic competitions globally in 2024, representing ten countries. In the International Category, winners included Sheikha Alia bint Saeed Maktoum Rashid Al Maktoum and Rashid Ali Khalfan Binkhalaf AlNaqbi from UAE; Lith Isehaq Al Kendi from Oman; Mohammed Adnan AlOmari and Mohammed Sameer Magahed from Bahrain; Mahmoud Ali Attiya Habib from Egypt; Ilias laMhayaoui from Morocco; Ekaha Ould Beitate from Mauritania; Mohammed Sami Mitwali from Palestine; and Fatima Lawn Abubakar from Nigeria.

In addition to honouring individual winners, Mona Abdulqader Salem AlGhassani was recognised for her 20 years of service promoting the Holy Quran as Former Director of Religious Centers and Institutes Administration at AWQAF. The Emirates Red Crescent was also acknowledged as a supporting entity for their contributions to this award.

The local category saw first-place winners such as Suhaib Ali Mohammed Dawood Abdullah, Omar Mohamed Ali Alkabouri AlNaqbi, Omar Muammar Ali Ahmed Ba Nabila, and Aisha Ali Mohamed Alechla Al Ali from UAE; Abdul Wadud Sorif Hussain from Bangladesh; Mansour Mohamed Mansour Elatrawy and Aesha Elsebaey Mohamed Mohamed Elbasyouni from Egypt; Ansam Ahmad Sweedan from Syria; and Zeinabou kbar from Mauritania.

Celebrating Achievements in Islamic Affairs

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, along with other dignitaries like Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, attended this prestigious event. Their presence underscored the importance placed on recognising achievements in Islamic education and affairs within the region.

Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei extended appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for attending and honouring awardees. He congratulated recipients and their families while encouraging them to embody Quranic values in their lives as role models within their communities.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo capturing this significant occasion for future generations. This event not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted collective efforts towards promoting Islamic education across borders.
