Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Directs Expansion Of Community Hubs In Abu Dhabi To Enhance Social Wellbeing

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, recently visited Nabdh Al Falah community hub in Abu Dhabi's Al Falah area. This hub, managed by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi (DCD), introduces a new model for integrated community centres. The initiative aligns with the declaration by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, marking 2025 as the Year of Community.

During his visit, H.H. Sheikh Khaled explored various facilities and received updates on key initiatives at the hub. These include Majlisna by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, which aims to revive traditional Emirati gatherings, and recreational projects by the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi. Additionally, he reviewed the Abu Dhabi Gaming initiative led by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

H.H. Sheikh Khaled emphasised expanding comprehensive community hubs across Abu Dhabi to enhance social wellbeing. He stressed providing diverse high-quality programmes that meet community needs and create interactive spaces to strengthen social cohesion. Engaging with community members is crucial to understanding their aspirations and reinforcing social bonds.

The hub offers a wide range of programmes developed in collaboration with public, private, and third-sector entities. These include workshops for children, youth, families, and senior citizens. The facilities are designed to empower young people by nurturing their skills for contributing to Abu Dhabi’s innovation-driven economy.

H.H. reaffirmed that fostering a socially connected environment is a priority for leadership. This aligns with the Year of Community initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to encourage participation and shared responsibility among community members. Nabdh Al Falah plays a pivotal role in strengthening social bonds through diverse services aligned with global best practices.

The hub provides state-of-the-art facilities and interactive spaces that foster meaningful connections, contributing to an inclusive society. Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of DCD, stated: "The inauguration of Nabdh Al Falah community hub represents a significant milestone in advancing integrated community hubs."

Facilities Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili highlighted that Nabdh Al Falah embodies leadership’s vision to promote social participation and enhance community cohesion. The hub reflects the Voice of the Community approach where DCD listens to members using scientific methods to design initiatives addressing their needs.

Mohamed Helal Al Balooshi from DCD expressed anticipation for Nabdh hubs becoming central to Abu Dhabi’s social sector objectives during the Year of Community. He noted these hubs will serve as multi-purpose destinations catering to all segments.

The hub includes a multi-use hall for events, dedicated spaces for programmes and workshops, sports fields, walking tracks, and cycling paths promoting healthy lifestyles. It serves all members of Abu Dhabi’s community including families and youth.

Diverse Programmes Offered

In its initial months, Nabdh Al Falah will offer over 145 programmes in collaboration with more than 38 entities across five key fields: Social and Recreational; Sports and Wellbeing; Learning and Skill Development; Social Support; Culture; National Identity programmes.

During his visit, H.H. Sheikh Khaled was accompanied by several officials including Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili from DCD; Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa from Department of Municipalities; Sara Awadh Musallam from Department of Education; Saif Saeed Ghobash from Executive Council; Sana bint Mohammed Suhail from Ministry of Family; Engineer Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri from DCD.
