K2 And Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Launch Innovative RAAD Vehicle To Enhance Emergency Response
K2, a company owned by the Abu Dhabi government, has introduced the "RAAD" Smart Civil Defence Vehicle at GITEX Global 2025. This vehicle, developed with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, represents a significant advancement in emergency response technology. It combines AI, robotics, and unmanned aerial systems into a unique mobile command-and-control platform to improve operational efficiency and coordination during emergencies.
The RAAD vehicle is equipped with a 4×4 drivetrain for off-road capabilities. It features an AI-driven command platform that facilitates real-time monitoring and resource management. The vehicle also includes two drone containers with fire-suppression payloads for early containment and a quadruped robot for inspecting dangerous or confined areas before human teams enter.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, stated, "The launch of the RAAD vehicle represents a strategic milestone in advancing Civil Defence operational capabilities. It reflects our commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies that enhance rescue and firefighting missions, improve response efficiency, and minimise risks to firefighters, thereby safeguarding lives, property, and the safety of our community."
Sean Teo, Managing Director of K2, emphasised the company's dedication to innovation by saying, "RAAD reflects K2’s commitment to developing reliable autonomous systems that support vital sectors and advance national innovation goals, aligning with Abu Dhabi’s vision for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future."
The RAAD system uses NVIDIA Orin processors for real-time data processing and thermal imaging analysis. A secure communication network links RAAD to drones and control centres. This setup provides live video feeds and telemetry data during emergency situations. The initiative showcases K2's mission to create advanced solutions that boost operational readiness and drive digital transformation in civil protection.
The introduction of RAAD highlights how technology can significantly enhance civil defence operations. By integrating advanced systems into emergency response vehicles, K2 aims to improve situational awareness and coordination during critical incidents. This development aligns with broader goals for technological advancement in public safety sectors.
This initiative underscores K2's focus on leveraging technology to serve humanity effectively. By enhancing operational capabilities through innovative solutions like RAAD, K2 contributes to creating safer communities while supporting national objectives for technological progress.
