Judicial Council And University Of Sharjah Forge Partnership To Enhance Legal Education And Training
On Monday, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, observed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Judicial Council and the University of Sharjah (UOS). This agreement aims to enhance cooperation between educational and judicial institutions in Sharjah.
The MoU was signed at the university's headquarters by Sheikh Faisal bin Ali Al Mualla, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council, and Professor Dr. Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of UOS. The agreement seeks to foster an advanced partnership in academic education and judicial training while promoting scientific and intellectual exchanges.
A key component of the MoU is establishing a Centre for Legal and Judicial Sciences. This centre will conduct research and studies in legal and judicial fields. It will also provide access to various information sources, such as publications and academic research, supporting the Judicial Council's objectives.
The memorandum outlines plans for joint academic programmes, including a Master’s programme in Judicial Studies and a Legal Expert programme at the College of Law. These initiatives aim to develop practical training programmes for university students while offering academic support to Judicial Council staff through workshops.
The agreement includes cooperation in creating a joint leadership development programme in judicial and legal fields. It also involves organising specialised scientific conferences and forums to facilitate institutional experience exchanges and field visits between both parties.
This collaboration reflects both sides' commitment to integrating efforts to develop legal competencies in Sharjah. It aims to provide a supportive academic environment for practical training, marking a significant milestone in ongoing collaboration between UOS and the Judicial Council.
Enhancing Knowledge Infrastructure
The MoU is expected to contribute significantly to developing knowledge infrastructure. It aims to strengthen links between academic learning and practical application, aligning with Sharjah’s vision of building a pioneering justice system based on knowledge, competence, and transparency.
Moreover, it explores creating a Professorial Chair in judicial studies. This initiative underscores the commitment to advancing educational standards within Sharjah's legal framework while supporting research-driven initiatives for curriculum development.
