Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid Commends Muslim Council Of Elders At Baghdad Book Fair

Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid, the President of Iraq, recently visited the Muslim Council of Elders' pavilion at the Baghdad International Book Fair's 25th edition. During his visit, he explored the Council’s extensive collection of publications. These works, numbering over 220 and available in five languages, cover significant intellectual and cultural topics.

The President praised the Council for its high-quality publications and diverse activities across Islamic, humanitarian, and intellectual domains. He acknowledged their efforts to promote moderate thought, showcase Islamic heritage, combat extremism, and correct misconceptions. Dr. Rashid expressed appreciation for the Council's pioneering work under Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar.

Iraqi President Visits Muslim Council Pavilion

The Iraqi President highlighted the Council's role in fostering tolerance, peace, and human coexistence among religions and cultures. He also commended their efforts in encouraging inter-Islamic dialogue. The President extended an official invitation to the Muslim Council of Elders to participate in the Holy Najaf International Book Fair's fourth edition next February.

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, expressed gratitude for this invitation from President Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid. He confirmed the Council’s enthusiasm to attend and participate in the Najaf International Book Fair.

Judge Abdelsalam emphasised that participating in international book fairs allows for intellectual and cultural exchanges between different cultures. It serves as a platform to raise awareness about key humanitarian values and principles among nations and peoples.

The participation also provides an opportunity to present an enlightened intellectual perspective on significant Islamic and humanitarian issues. This engagement helps bridge gaps between cultures through shared knowledge and understanding.
