International Charity Organisation Initiates Humanitarian Projects To Support Vulnerable Communities In Syria

The International Charity Organisation (ICO) has initiated a visit to Syria, aiming to launch various humanitarian projects across several regions. These initiatives include well maintenance, mosque restoration, and the provision of 16 ambulances and 55 dialysis machines for hospitals. The delegation will also inspect 30 ongoing charitable projects in healthcare, education, and water supply for the most vulnerable areas.

Dr. Khalid Abdulwahab Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the ICO, highlighted that these efforts continue the organisation's charitable work in Syria. He stated, "These projects come as a continuation of the organisation’s charitable efforts in Syria, embodying the UAE’s approach of extending a helping hand to its brothers and translating the directives of the wise leadership to support those in need and alleviate their suffering."

ICO Launches Humanitarian Projects in Syria

The current phase emphasises supporting essential sectors such as health, education, and water due to their significant impact on daily life. Dr. Al Khaja explained that since operations began about a year ago, the ICO has implemented projects worth approximately AED 21 million in Syria. These cover various relief and development programmes aimed at long-term benefits.

The ICO's visit also involves delivering food aid to low-income families and supporting orphan sponsorship projects. All activities are coordinated with relevant Syrian authorities to ensure effective implementation. The organisation is transitioning from emergency responses to sustainable projects that provide lasting benefits to communities.

During this field visit, new projects will be launched while existing ones are evaluated on-site. Agreements with local partners are also expected to be signed to enhance collaboration. Dr. Al Khaja urged philanthropists and donors to continue backing ICO's programmes for Syrians affected by wars and disasters.

He noted that these initiatives reflect the UAE's commitment to aiding those in need by focusing on sectors crucial for improving people's lives. The ICO aims to create sustainable impacts through its projects, moving beyond immediate relief efforts.

The delegation's activities align with the UAE's broader strategy of providing assistance and support where it is most needed. By addressing critical needs in health, education, and water supply, the ICO seeks to improve living conditions for many Syrians.
