India Prepares To Welcome Global Aviation Leaders At 81st IATA AGM In 2025

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that IndiGo will host the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit in Delhi, India, from June 8-10, 2025. This marks the third time the IATA AGM will convene in Delhi, with previous meetings held in 1958 and 1983.

Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director-General, highlighted the importance of this event. "We look forward to gathering the aviation industry in Delhi, India’s gateway city, for the 81st IATA AGM in 2025. It’s been over four decades since the industry came together for an IATA AGM in Delhi," Walsh stated.

India to Host 81st IATA AGM

India is on track to become the world’s third-largest aviation market within this decade. The country has seen record aircraft orders, significant growth, and world-class infrastructure developments. These factors make it an ideal time for the IATA AGM to return to India.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, expressed pride in hosting the event. "IndiGo is proud to be the host airline for the 81st IATA AGM and looks forward to welcoming the global aviation community to Delhi in 2025," Elbers said. He noted that India is poised to become the third-largest economy within a few years and is leading advancements in AI.

Elbers also emphasized IndiGo's contributions since its inception in 2006. The airline has expanded internationally and aims to engage in dialogues on safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability while meeting growing global air travel demands.

Historical Context

The decision to host the 81st IATA AGM in India was made at the 80th IATA AGM in Dubai. This upcoming event will be a significant milestone for India's aviation sector, reflecting its rapid growth and development over recent years.

The return of the IATA AGM to Delhi after more than four decades underscores India's rising prominence in global aviation. The event will provide a platform for industry leaders to discuss crucial topics and shape the future of air transport.
