Ignite Energy Access Partners With ADIO To Establish Global Headquarters In Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has entered into a strategic partnership with Ignite Energy Access, a prominent provider of Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) solutions across Africa. This agreement aims to establish Ignite's global headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The collaboration will help expand Ignite's operations regionally and globally, enhancing Abu Dhabi's status as a leader in clean energy innovation.

Ignite Energy Access employs a unique technology platform to develop and manage distributed solar solutions throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Their mission is to connect 100 million people to sustainable electricity by 2030. This partnership will allow Ignite to broaden its reach across Africa, including solar home systems, solar-powered irrigation, hybrid solar inverters, and commercial and industrial solar projects.

In addition to expanding its operations in Africa, Ignite plans to introduce advanced solar technologies to the UAE. The company will deploy standalone off-grid solar projects for rural communities, sustainable farming, and eco-friendly transportation and construction within the UAE. This move aligns with Abu Dhabi’s goals of fostering clean energy solutions.

The relocation of Ignite’s headquarters is expected to create over 200 high-skilled jobs in Abu Dhabi. These roles will span technology, finance, and supply chain sectors. Beyond job creation, Ignite is committed to knowledge transfer through collaborations with local universities for internships, specialist training, and industry partnerships.

Badr Al-Olama, Director-General of ADIO, stated that strategic partnerships and advanced technologies are key to reinforcing Abu Dhabi's role as a global investment hub. "Through strategic partnerships and advanced technologies, Abu Dhabi continues to strengthen its role as a global hub for investments. Our collaboration with Ignite reinforces this vision," he said.

Yariv Cohen, CEO of Ignite Energy Access, highlighted the support provided by Abu Dhabi’s ecosystem for scaling clean energy solutions. "Abu Dhabi’s ecosystem provides unparalleled support for clean energy solutions at scale," Cohen commented. He emphasised the alignment between Ignite’s vision and Abu Dhabi’s commitment to advancing net-zero strategies.

Commitment to Knowledge Transfer

Ignite is also dedicated to collaborating with Abu Dhabi's renewable energy sector. They aim to build on previous engagements with organisations like IRENA and Masdar. These efforts support the emirate's energy transition goals by fostering innovation and attracting pioneering companies.

This partnership not only strengthens Abu Dhabi's position in the global clean energy landscape but also contributes significantly towards developing a future-ready economy capable of addressing pressing global challenges through transformative solutions.
