IGCF 2024 To Host Global Experts On Agile Government And Innovative Communication

The 13th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2024) will convene over 250 global speakers and experts to explore new communication frontiers. The event, themed 'Agile Governments... Innovative Communication,’ is set for September 4-5 at Expo Centre Sharjah. Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), it promises a packed agenda with more than 160 activities, including panel discussions, speeches, and workshops.

In previous editions, the forum attracted over 69,000 visitors and 790 speakers from 90 countries. This year’s event will gather decision-makers, thought leaders from public and private sectors, and communication experts to discuss key developmental issues and offer strategic recommendations for the future of communication.

IGCF 2024  Innovation in Govt  Communication

The forum will address critical challenges and opportunities in government communication through 15 sessions and inspirational talks. Key themes include the economic impact of communication, talent attraction, information warfare, globalisation of communication, and education. Discussions will also cover emerging economic sectors and advanced technologies like genetic revolutions, space sciences, artificial intelligence, and deepfake technology.

Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, highlighted the forum’s significance in shaping public awareness. He stated, "The IGCF has established itself as a distinguished platform for fostering innovation and advancing communication strategies." He added that this edition addresses a broad spectrum of critical issues decision-makers face.

The two-day event features over 135 side activities across 17 stages. These activities will explore various facets of communication with contributions from 35 partners. Key entities involved include TRENDS Research & Advisory, UNITAR, Forbes Middle East, The Government Campus, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Media City (Shams), Sharjah Press Club, and the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority.

Gov. Talks and Gov. Dialogues platforms will discuss the latest innovations in communication through 28 activities. Topics include AI’s role in media campaigns, AgriTech’s impact on food security, youth content creation, ageing economies, and how communication bolsters national industries’ global competitiveness.

Opportunities for Youth Development

Youth participants can develop their skills through 29 dedicated activities. Highlights include the Youth Stage with Deraya and the Arab Youth Center; the Universities Challenge with UAEU; and the AI Skills Camp organised by SGMB with AIJRF. These initiatives aim to enhance young people's abilities in communication and media.

Pre-forum activities offer valuable opportunities for university students and professionals to improve their skills in communication, media, and artificial intelligence. Five diverse programmes are organised by industry leaders including COMMS programme which offers seven interactive workshops specifically for media students.

Training Sessions for Capacity Building

IGCF 2024 will provide capacity-building opportunities through 40 targeted training sessions focused on marketing, communication, and creative thinking. Topics include 'New Generation Skills for Kids: Integrating System Thinking & Technology,’ 'Influencer Dynamics: Mastering Public Communication in the Digital Age,’ and 'Government Marketing and Nation Branding Program.’ These sessions aim to upskill government officials, employees, and students.

The forum's 'Researchers’ Platform' returns with 20 publications featuring books, academic papers from esteemed institutions. It continues to serve as an essential hub for media professionals seeking knowledge on various topics related to communications.

This international event underscores its commitment to nurturing future leaders equipped with expertise to overcome modern challenges while driving substantial change in government communications.
