CARACAL And ICOMM Collaborate To Supply Advanced CSR 338 Sniper Rifles To India's CRPF

EDGE entity CARACAL, a prominent designer and manufacturer of advanced small arms, has partnered with ICOMM Tele Ltd, part of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), to supply 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles to India's Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The rifles will be produced at the ICOMM CARACAL Small Arms Complex in Hyderabad, India.

The Hyderabad facility, inaugurated in April this year, acts as a local manufacturing hub. It produces a wide range of advanced weapons to meet the needs of the Indian Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, state police, and special forces. Additionally, it supports CARACAL's global export demands.

Hamad Alameri, CEO of CARACAL, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with ICOMM. He stated that this partnership strengthens their commitment to Prime Minister Modi's 'Make in India' initiative. "This historic transfer of technology in small arms is a significant milestone in UAE-India defence collaboration and directly reflects our long-standing efforts to support India’s security requirements and growing defence industry," he said.

Sumanth Paturu, Director at ICOMM Tele Ltd, highlighted the importance of this contract for ICOMM. He noted that it validates their strategy to build sovereign defence capabilities in India. "Together with CARACAL and EDGE, we are not just supplying the most advanced CSR 338 sniper system to CRPF; we are transferring world-class technology," Paturu stated.

The CSR 338 is a high-performance bolt-action sniper rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. It features a 27-inch barrel and a 10-round magazine. The rifle is equipped with ambidextrous magazine release and safety mechanisms. It also includes a two-stage adjustable precision trigger and a four-position telescopic foldable stock.

The delivery of the first batch of these rifles produced in India is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025. This project aims to create high-quality manufacturing jobs in Hyderabad while strengthening India's defence industrial ecosystem.

ICOMM remains dedicated to timely delivery and providing lifecycle support for these rifles. They aim to scale this capability to meet future needs of India's security services and export customers.
