House Of Wisdom Expands Cooperation With Egyptian Cultural Institutions For Arab Knowledge Exchange

House of Wisdom in Sharjah sent a delegation to Egypt to deepen cultural ties and knowledge exchange with key institutions. The trip, aligned with participation in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, focused on building joint programmes that serve Arab audiences and support long-term regional cooperation.

The visit formed part of House of Wisdom’s broader regional strategy, which seeks new partnerships with leading cultural and academic bodies. By engaging Egyptian organisations, House of Wisdom aims to develop shared content, build cross-border cultural experiences, and support sustainable collaboration in arts, literature, and knowledge sectors.

HoW expands ties with Egyptian culture

During the mission, the delegation explored cooperation with the Egyptian General Book Authority, the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art, and the American University in Cairo. The meetings centred on joint exhibitions, cultural projects, and professional exchange that could enhance intellectual dialogue across Arab countries and reach diverse audiences.

The team reviewed the institutions’ collections, facilities, and operational practices to understand their strengths and priorities. Discussions covered possible collaboration across artistic and cultural programmes, including exhibitions, public events, and knowledge-sharing activities that align with House of Wisdom’s mandate as a library and cultural centre in Sharjah.

Marwa Al Aqroubi said, "The visit to these institutions marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural cooperation with leading Egyptian organisations and explore opportunities for joint exhibitions and cultural programmes. It allows us to offer rich intellectual and artistic experiences to audiences, whether through exhibitions or the diverse cultural events hosted by HoW. We believe Arab cultural partnerships are a cornerstone for building an integrated knowledge landscape that reflects the richness of our culture and meets future aspirations."

Meetings in Cairo brought the House of Wisdom delegation together with Dr. Iman Nabil, Director of the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art, and Mohamed Talaat Ali, Advisor to the Minister of Culture for Visual and Plastic Arts. The delegation also held talks with Lamia Eid, Dean of Libraries and Learning Technologies at the American University in Cairo.

The initiative reflects House of Wisdom’s vision of cultural cooperation with regional partners and its focus on libraries as centres of creativity and knowledge. This approach supports Sharjah’s role as Capital of Arab Culture, where knowledge acts as a bridge for global dialogue and helps enrich the wider Arab cultural landscape.
