Dubai's Healthcare Future Summit 2024 Wraps Up

This year, over 5,000 healthcare leaders, researchers, policymakers, and industry innovators attended to discuss vaccine technology developments. They also focused on immunisation practices and infectious disease control. Dr Ramadan Al Blooshi stated that the summit successfully brought together global health leaders to address these issues.

The agenda included discussions on adult vaccination programmes. These highlighted vaccines for diseases such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), shingles, influenza, and pneumonia. The shingles vaccine was emphasised for its effectiveness in protecting adults over 50.

Dr Farida Al Hosani commented on the importance of adult vaccination: "Vaccination is essential throughout adulthood. Adult vaccines save lives, prevent complications from chronic illnesses, and support a healthier society." She stressed flu vaccination as crucial for high-risk adults to ease healthcare system strain.

A key theme was establishing a comprehensive adult vaccination schedule to reduce vaccine-preventable diseases. This approach aims to decrease healthcare costs and improve quality of life by advancing vaccine technology and routine immunisation programmes.
