Sharjah Museums Authority Launches Happy Holiday Winter Camp For Children Aged 6 To 12

Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has introduced its Happy Holiday Winter Camp, targeting children aged 6 to 12 for a journey filled with exploration and excitement. From 16th December 2024 to 2nd January 2025, participants will enjoy a blend of fun and learning at Sharjah’s renowned museums. These venues offer innovative educational, cultural, and entertaining activities.

The Winter Camp is designed to enhance children's intellectual and creative skills during their school holidays. It aims to raise awareness about museums as interactive learning spaces. The camp features diverse programmes with unique themes that encourage creativity, critical thinking, diversity, inclusion, and social sustainability by fostering community engagement and appreciation for cultural heritage.

Happy Holiday Winter Camp at Sharjah Museums

One of the highlights is the Tales of the Fort programme at Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), scheduled from 16th to 19th December. This event promises an exciting adventure where children learn about Sharjah’s history through engaging activities that bring historical stories and heroes to life. Another captivating programme is Secrets of Herbs and Arts at the Sharjah Heritage Museum from 16th to 19th December. This introduces children to ancient herb uses and traditional art creation, merging natural wonders with artistic expression.

At Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi in Kalba, "A Journey Through Time" runs from 16th to 26th December. This programme offers an engaging look into ancestral lives through hands-on activities and guided tours that vividly present Sharjah’s heritage. Meanwhile, the Sea Treasures programme at the Sharjah Maritime Museum from 16th to 26th December immerses children in maritime history with a mix of adventure and education.

The Sharjah Science Museum hosts the ‘Scientific Discoveries’ programme from 16th to 26th December. Science enthusiasts can engage in workshops on toy design, air science, lenses, aviation, space exploration, and recycling art. For those interested in traditional Emirati life, "My Grandfather’s House" at Bait Al Naboodah from 23rd to 26th December offers insights into past customs.

Taymiyya School will present The Hurufiyya Art programme from 23rd to 26th December. This invites children to explore Arabic calligraphy’s beauty. Concluding the camp is Archaeological Discoveries at Hisn Khorfakkan from 30th December to 2nd January. Here, young explorers delve into Sharjah’s archaeological heritage through enjoyable hands-on activities.
