His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, took part in an aid collection drive at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. This event was part of the UAE's ongoing support for Lebanon, marking the second such effort in Abu Dhabi within two weeks. The initiative successfully gathered 150 tonnes of food, medical supplies, and shelter equipment.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the campaign's emphasis on social solidarity and institutional coordination from its inception. He noted that this cohesive approach to humanitarian issues reflects the Emirati community's diverse commitment to aiding those in need. "This emanates from the solid foundations laid down by the founder the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who stressed the need for helping those in need wherever they are," he stated.
The UAE has demonstrated its commitment to Lebanon through this campaign, which began on 8 October 2024. It was initiated under directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with oversight by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The campaign has amassed a total of 1,100 tonnes of relief materials.
Since its launch, the UAE has dispatched 13 relief planes to Lebanon. These flights have delivered up to 560 tonnes of essential supplies, including items specifically for women and children. This effort underscores the UAE's dedication to providing comprehensive aid to those affected by crises.
The event saw participation from various dignitaries alongside Sheikh Hamdan. Among them were his children; Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence; Dr Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent; Abdulhamid Mohammed Al Ahmad, Chairman of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Authority; and Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Health.
