Hamdan Bin Zayed Oversees UAE Relief Operations For Cyclone Kristine Victims In The Philippines

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC), recently engaged with the ERC team in Manila via phone. He was updated on the relief efforts for those affected by Cyclone Kristine in Southeast Asia. The ERC is committed to supporting all nations in need, aligning with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision.

The UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and the Philippines. He noted that the UAE's aid for cyclone victims reflects enduring human connections between the two countries. The UAE has a long history of providing humanitarian and developmental support to the Philippines.

The ERC delegation completed the initial phase of aid distribution in Sorsogon province, which was severely impacted by Cyclone Kristine. Humanitarian assistance was provided in Bulan, Irosin, Juban, Casiguran, and Sorsogon City. This marks the second delegation sent to manage relief operations in these areas.

Rex Gatchalian, Secretary of Social Welfare and Development of the Philippines, praised the UAE leadership for their prompt response to this crisis. He acknowledged that early aid delivery significantly supported those affected. He also appreciated the ERC team's swift deployment and presence in disaster-hit regions.

Senator Aquilino echoed similar sentiments about shared values between Emiratis and Filipinos. He mentioned that strong communication bridges have deepened ties between both nations. The UAE plays a crucial role in humanitarian efforts and continues to support Filipinos during crises like natural disasters.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that ERC utilises all resources to provide unwavering support worldwide. This commitment is guided by principles of humanity and impartiality, transcending race or religion.
