Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Opens Applications For Educators' Scholarships In Gifted Education

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has opened applications for a scholarship programme. This initiative is for Emirati teachers and educators in the education sector, aiming to pursue a Masters in Gifted and Talented Education at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). Applications are accepted until 30th April.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about this opportunity. He stated, "We are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Masters in Gifted and Talented Education at UAEU, a programme designed for teachers and educators working in the field of education. It aims to empower them to become specialists in gifted education within their schools and communities, and to respond effectively to the educational and social needs of gifted and talented students from diverse cultural backgrounds."

Scholarships Announced for Emirati Educators

This master's programme offers participants advanced knowledge in educational theory, research, and practical skills related to gifted education. It focuses on enhancing problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills. Participants will learn how to design, implement, and evaluate teaching activities that ensure success for gifted students through encouragement and hands-on practice.

The programme is based on evidence-based approaches to gifted education. It prepares educators to identify, nurture, and invest in gifted students across UAE schools effectively. This initiative addresses a crucial need within the educational system by equipping teachers with specialised skills.

Applicants must meet specific criteria: they should be UAE nationals or recipients of one of the Foundation’s awards. Alternatively, they could be employed at a school that has received a Foundation award or be distinguished teachers with high performance ratings. Candidates must not have previously obtained a master’s degree, should currently work in education, and be aged between 25 and 40.

The collaboration between the Hamdan Foundation and UAEU highlights their commitment to supporting gifted students across various fields in the UAE. Dr. Al Suwaidi emphasised that teachers play a vital role in nurturing future scientists who will contribute significantly to national development.

Partnership with UAE University

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi commended UAEU's role in supporting this initiative. He praised their partnership with the Foundation in advancing education within the country. The Masters in Gifted and Talented Education offered by UAEU is unique within both the UAE and the wider region.

Dr. Al Suwaidi concluded by highlighting the importance of supporting teachers as they fulfill their mission effectively. "At Hamdan Foundation, we are committed to contributing to our wise leadership’s vision for advancing education and supporting teachers in fulfilling their mission in the most effective way," he said.
