Hamdan Bin Mohammed Highlights Dubai's Commitment To AI Innovation At Festival

The Dubai AI Festival, a significant part of Dubai AI Week, began under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The event highlights Dubai's ambition to be a leader in artificial intelligence innovation. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan stated: "Dubai AI Festival stands as a testament to our vision of positioning Dubai as a global leader in artificial intelligence innovation. The Festival reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where creativity, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology converge to shape a brighter future for all."

H.H. The festival featured an exhibition area where H.H. Sheikh Hamdan toured various pavilions. At the Dubai AI Campus pavilion, he observed advanced AI solutions and developments that highlight Dubai's commitment to leading in this field. The Google Cloud workshop on generative AI essentials for start-ups was also part of this showcase.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan then visited the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF) pavilion which focused on Chinese start-ups and potential collaborations. This visit offered insights into China's entrepreneurial landscape. Additionally, he explored the South Korea pavilion showcasing technological advancements by South Korean start-ups.

The two-day festival is organised by the Dubai AI Campus in partnership with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office. It attracted over 10,000 industry experts from more than 100 countries. The event concludes on 24 April 2025 and offers networking opportunities that reinforce Dubai’s position in the global digital economy.

Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by several dignitaries including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Omar Sultan Al Olama; Essa Kazim; and Arif Amiri during his tour of the exhibition area.

Key Discussions

The festival hosted over 100 speakers from leading organisations discussing themes like AI governance and ethics across more than 40 sessions and workshops. Notable speakers included Dr. Werner Vogels from Amazon; Parminder Bhatia from GE HealthCare; Bhavish Aggarwal from Ola; Scott Harden from Schneider Electric Innovation; Thomas Pramotedham from Presight AI; Hasan Fardan Al Fardan from Al Fardan Exchange; Dr Anirudh Devgan from Cadence Design Systems; Dr Xu Li from Sense Time; Dr Amr Awadallah from Vectara; Nigel Toon from Graphcore; Salem Humaid Al Marri from Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre; and Daniel Hulme from WPP.

Panel discussions on Day 1 explored how AI connects global communities and its impact on industries such as finance, healthcare, transportation, and space exploration. Speakers shared insights on leveraging AI for intelligent customer experiences and achieving digital goals.

Dubai's thriving AI ecosystem includes over 800 companies with 66% having their global headquarters in the city. This underscores Dubai's strategic focus on becoming a hub for technological advancement.
