Hamdan Bin Mohammed Engages With Uzbekistan Defence Minister To Enhance Military Cooperation

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, recently engaged in discussions with Lieutenant General Kurbanov Bakhodir Nizomovich, Uzbekistan's Minister of Defence. The meeting focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between the UAE and Uzbekistan, which spans 41 sectors. Both leaders emphasised the importance of defence cooperation in advancing mutual interests and strengthening international partnerships.

The meeting also delved into potential joint initiatives and expertise exchange beyond defence collaboration. Discussions covered regional and global issues, highlighting the need for effective solutions to global challenges. The leaders underscored the significance of international security and peace in achieving sustainable development goals.

On the sidelines of this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on military cooperation was signed between the UAE and Uzbekistan. Mattar Salem Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, represented the UAE, while Norboev Alisher Tokhtaevich, Deputy Minister of Defence for Armament and Equipment, signed on behalf of Uzbekistan. This agreement includes collaboration in training, education, and sharing defence industry expertise.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan reiterated the UAE leadership's dedication to deepening ties with Uzbekistan. He noted that defence cooperation remains central to both countries’ efforts to advance mutual interests and aligns with their approach to strengthening international partnerships.

The meeting was attended by several key figures from both nations. Among them were Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Mattar Salem Al Dhaheri; Major General Dr. Mubarak Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Defence Industries within the Ministry of Defence; and Dr. Saeed Matar Al Qemzi, UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan.

This gathering highlighted both nations' commitment to addressing global challenges through enhanced cooperation. It also reinforced their shared vision for sustainable development through strengthened international security measures.
