Hamdan Bin Mohammed Engages With ICC Chairman And Indian Cricket Stars In Mumbai Meeting
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, recently visited India. During his visit to Mumbai, he met with Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), as well as Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma and players Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the UAE's dedication to fostering global sports through strategic international collaborations. He highlighted the nation's role as a key hub for sporting events worldwide, supported by its advanced infrastructure and long-term vision. The UAE has been home to the ICC headquarters in Dubai since 2005, showcasing its commitment to international sports organisations.
During discussions with Indian cricketers, Sheikh Hamdan congratulated them on their recent success in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The Indian team clinched the title with a remarkable win in the final match held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in March. The players shared their experiences of competing in this tournament and others hosted in the UAE over the years.
The cricketers praised the UAE for its top-notch facilities, excellent organisation, and lively sporting atmosphere. They acknowledged how these factors contribute to an exceptional experience for athletes competing in the country. Sheikh Hamdan noted that cricket's popularity is on the rise in the UAE, thanks to support from the Emirates Cricket Board led by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
