Speaking at the AI Retreat during Dubai AI Week 2025, he highlighted the need for Dubai to be at the forefront of technological transformation.

The AI Retreat took place at the Museum of the Future, featuring over 150 government officials and global experts. Discussions focused on data governance, digital infrastructure, economy and investment, and talent development. Participants explored AI's potential benefits and strategies to enhance its positive impact across various sectors.

Dubai AI Week, held from 21st to 25th April 2025 under H.H. Sheikh Hamdan's patronage, includes numerous events such as the AI Retreat, Dubai Assembly for AI, and Global Prompt Engineering Championship. Organised by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence and the Dubai Future Foundation, it attracts experts and leaders from top global organisations.

Strategic partners for Dubai AI Week include entities like the Dubai Digital Authority and DEWA. The event also sees participation from major technology companies such as Meta, IBM, Google, Microsoft, Yango, Gartner, SWIFT, PwC, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Palantir, Cohere, ElevenLabs among others.

During his visit to the retreat's roundtable discussions on key topics like data governance and digital infrastructure, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan stressed a proactive governmental approach towards AI. He noted this would prepare them for future transformations. He was accompanied by several dignitaries including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The retreat included four closed roundtable discussions where participants discussed relevant policies and legislation related to AI applications. They outlined strategies to maximise developmental impacts across vital sectors through these technologies.

Vision for Technological Transformation

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan remarked on the unprecedented scientific advancements occurring globally. He expressed a desire for Dubai to become one of the most advanced cities embracing technological change. "Our aim is to harness every opportunity to strengthen our economy," he said.

The event featured a comprehensive lineup including summits like Machines Can See summit and HIMSS Executive Summit Dubai along with competitions such as Hackathon: Agentic AI aimed at fostering innovation within schools through initiatives like AI Week in Schools.
