Hamdan Bin Mohammed Attends Launch Of Art Session For People Of Determination Under ‘7 Over 7’ Initiative
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently attended the launch of a volunteering event called ‘Art Session with People of Determination’. This event is part of the ‘7 Over 7’ initiative, which is a national programme promoting skill-based volunteering across the UAE. The initiative aims to boost community engagement and collaboration through meaningful volunteer work.
The event took place at Al Mamzar Park in Dubai to celebrate UAE Flag Day. It was attended by several dignitaries, including Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Empowerment; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai. Officials from various local entities also participated.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the importance of empowering People of Determination by providing them opportunities to express their creativity. He stated that this approach is deeply rooted in the UAE’s development plans, which focus on social cohesion and placing people at the centre. He remarked on the creative energy displayed by People of Determination during the event.
He said, "We are proud of the creative energy displayed today by People of Determination, which embodies the spirit of unity and belonging and reflects the noble values upon which the UAE community was built, values founded on the belief that giving is a responsibility and creativity is a universal language that unites us all under the nation’s flag."
Sheikh Hamdan further highlighted that the ‘7 Over 7’ initiative aligns with leadership's vision to instil volunteerism as a core value. This initiative encourages individuals to actively participate in national development efforts. He reiterated Dubai and UAE's commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance social cohesion and community participation.
He added, "The ‘7 Over 7’ initiative reflects the vision of our leadership to instil volunteerism as a core human and social value that empowers individuals and encourages them to play an active role in the nation’s development journey. It reaffirms that Dubai and the UAE will continue supporting initiatives that strengthen the values of cohesion and giving and enhance the participation of all community segments in shaping a better future for everyone."
The Role of Art in Cultural Development
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed praised both volunteers and People of Determination for their artistic contributions during the session. She stressed art's role as a universal language fostering human connection beyond words. She underscored art's significance in cultural development while highlighting its power to convey strong messages.
She noted that art serves as an essential pillar for cultural growth and national progress. The involvement of People of Determination in this initiative reflects leadership’s vision to empower them across various creative fields.
More than 200 talented individuals with determination joined over 400 volunteers skilled in fine arts to create artworks celebrating UAE identity and heritage. A notable highlight was painting the UAE flag on Al Mamzar Park's outer theatre wall—a vibrant display capturing unity, empowerment, and community spirit across society.
