Hamdan Bin Mohammed Celebrates Graduation Of First Cohort From Georgetown University’s Executive MBA Programme

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attended the graduation ceremony for Georgetown University's Executive MBA programme's first cohort at the DIFC Academy. This event was part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, which aims to realise Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of making Dubai a leading global city.

The forum gathered 1,000 leaders from both government and private sectors in Dubai. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the importance of empowering national talent with knowledge and expertise to become global leaders. "Qualified minds are the true wealth on which we rely to build a strong economy and a sustainable, innovative society," he stated.

Founded in 1789 and based in Washington, D.C., Georgetown University is renowned for its excellence in business and international relations. The university has produced influential figures such as heads of state and CEOs who drive economies worldwide. The Executive MBA programme offered in Dubai is unique in the UAE.

The programme spans 21 months and covers core subjects like business analytics, international affairs, and financial technology. It aims to equip participants with skills necessary for understanding large institutions' dynamics, enabling them to apply these skills directly in their workplaces.

The Georgetown Executive MBA has attracted decision-makers globally due to its success. It ranks 10th in the United States and 2nd worldwide for student satisfaction. Additionally, it holds high rankings for alumni network strength and career progression within the U.S.

Participants are taught by esteemed faculty from Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, focusing on innovation and strategy. The programme serves as a platform for decision-makers by offering specialised education levels that enhance understanding of complex institutional dynamics.

Diverse Cohort

The first cohort in Dubai included 53 graduates from various sectors and nationalities such as the UAE, Egypt, France, Greece, the UK, and the US. This diversity reflects the programme's global appeal and its role in fostering a knowledge-based economy.

Notable alumni from Georgetown include His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, former US President Bill Clinton, and King Felipe VI of Spain. These distinguished figures exemplify the calibre of leadership cultivated by Georgetown University.

Leadership Development

"Through such programmes," H.H. Sheikh Hamdan added, "we seek to prepare a new generation of executive leaders capable of fostering a knowledge-based economy." This initiative also aims to enhance Dubai’s status as an economic hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Georgetown University ranked first globally for master’s and bachelor’s programmes in international relations according to Foreign Policy magazine’s 2024 ranking. It also placed 14th in political science in QS World University ranking by subject for 2024.

This graduation marks a significant step towards achieving Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision by equipping future leaders with essential skills needed for guiding institutions towards new horizons.
