Google For Startups Accelerator Launches To Support 26 AI Ventures From Hub71 In Abu Dhabi
Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s tech ecosystem, and Google have introduced the Google for Startups Accelerator. This initiative aims to enhance AI-focused startups within Hub71+ AI, a specialised sector of the ecosystem. The programme seeks to drive innovation across key industries from Abu Dhabi. A total of 26 startups from Hub71 have been chosen for the first cohort, benefiting from a customised three-month curriculum.
These selected startups will access Google’s extensive network of mentors, engineers, and product leaders. They will also receive Google Cloud credits. Top-performing startups may qualify for up to $300,000 in credits, which is the highest level of support offered globally through this programme. Additionally, they might be considered for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem tier credit allocations to further enhance their technical capabilities.

Previously, these startups within Hub71 received up to AED500,000 in funding support. This included AED250,000 in in-kind services and AED250,000 in cash via a SAFE note along with tailored mentorship. Now, through the accelerator programme, they gain access to an influential network of partners and technical experts within the Hub71+ AI ecosystem. This strengthens their potential to scale globally from Abu Dhabi.
Ahmad Ali Alwan, CEO of Hub71, stated: "Bringing the Google for Startups Accelerator to Abu Dhabi is a key milestone in advancing our position as a global centre for AI innovation. Together with Google, we are empowering founders to develop transformative technologies that address real-world challenges. Our ambition is for startups from Abu Dhabi to compete globally, lead with purpose, and create lasting impact."
Doron Avni, Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) for Emerging Markets at Google said: "Startups are at the forefront of solving critical challenges with AI, and our partnership with Hub71 is about equipping them with the resources to go further, faster. Through this accelerator, we are enabling Hub71 startups access to global expertise and infrastructure so they can build AI solutions that make a real impact both regionally and around the world."
In addition to mentorship and technical resources, early-stage founders will receive tailored playbooks and toolkits from Google. They will also gain introductions to Google's investment arms and Alphabet’s broader network. This opens doors to new funding avenues and commercial opportunities.
Strategic Agreement Enhances Collaboration
The launch follows a strategic agreement signed in late 2024 aimed at bringing Google’s startup programme to Abu Dhabi. This move reinforces a shared goal of expanding access to advanced digital infrastructure while attracting top talent and fostering cross-border collaboration in AI.
As Abu Dhabi continues investing in emerging technologies, this accelerator programme marks an important step towards becoming a global hub for AI innovation. With support from a leading tech company and a world-class ecosystem behind them; selected startups are well-positioned to scale breakthrough innovations shaping future advancements from Abu Dhabi worldwide.
