GMG Launches 'GMG Cares' CSR Initiative For Sustainable Impact
GMG, global well-being company, has recently unveiled 'GMG Cares', a corporate responsibility initiative designed to make a significant positive impact on individual and community well-being, while fostering a sustainable future. This initiative stands on three foundational pillars: Planet, Community, and People, reflecting the company's commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and employee welfare. It underscores GMG's dedication to contributing meaningfully towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the sustainability objectives of the UAE.
Mohammad A. Baker, Deputy Chairman and CEO of GMG, expressed enthusiasm about accelerating sustainable practices through 'GMG Cares'. He emphasized the initiative's role in the company's broader 'Make a Difference' sustainability strategy, launched in 2022. Baker highlighted GMG's focus on a people-first approach and its efforts to drive community development through partnerships with leading organizations, aligning closely with the UAE's Sustainability Agenda.

Razan Akrouk, Chief People Officer at GMG, elaborated on the initiative's goals, particularly the 'Inspire People' pillar designed to support employees' career growth, health, safety, and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion. These efforts underscore GMG's commitment to its workforce and the broader community, aiming to foster a healthier, more inclusive work environment.
Under the 'Community' pillar, GMG partnered with Dubai's Community Development Authority (CDA) to support the Solidarity Initiative. This collaboration aims to assist families affected by a recent storm in Dubai, with GMG donating over AED 70,000 worth of food staples to displaced families. This contribution will provide essential support to those unable to return to their damaged homes.
In its efforts to protect the planet, GMG has engaged in several initiatives, including a partnership with the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) for the 'Dubai Can' initiative. A key achievement of this partnership is the installation of a free water station at Al Qudra cycle track, significantly reducing plastic bottle usage. Further, GMG's move to eliminate single-use plastics in its retail division and replace plastic tape with eco-friendly alternatives in its warehouses demonstrates a solid commitment to environmental sustainability.
The 'People' pillar focuses on enhancing employee well-being through various initiatives, including the introduction of a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) policy and the formation of the 'EmpowHer' committee to support and advance women in the workplace. GMG has also established partnerships to provide training and employment for people of determination and launched the GMG Sports Club, sponsoring sports activities for employees, reflecting the company's investment in its people's health and happiness.
Through 'GMG Cares', the company continues to invest in CSR activities, making notable progress towards achieving a sustainable future and positively affecting the environment, society, and employee well-being.
