GISEC Global 2025: Key Insights On AI's Role In Cybersecurity Market Growth
The GISEC Global 2025 event, the third-largest cybersecurity gathering worldwide, has commenced with a focus on AI's role in building secure infrastructures. The theme, ‘Securing an AI-Powered Future,’ attracted over 750 leading cybersecurity firms, 450 global CISOs and futurists, and 25,000 visitors from more than 160 countries. Discussions centred on AI's transformative impact on cybersecurity.
Dr Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, highlighted the UAE's daily battle against over 200,000 cyberattacks. Government entities are the primary targets. He stressed the need for robust measures as the fifth industrial revolution unfolds. Key areas like human-data interfaces and AI governance require urgent attention to counter AI-driven threats.

Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky, addressed AI's dual role in aiding both cybercriminals and businesses. He noted that while AI enhances speed and efficiency, it also poses risks due to cybercrime. However, he expressed optimism about cybersecurity companies developing immunity to make future systems secure.
Faisal Abdulaziz from Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) discussed Dubai’s digital transformation efforts. He emphasised embedding cybersecurity into every aspect of the city’s smart services and infrastructure. Talent development remains a key focus to ensure a resilient digital economy.
Aarti Borkar from Microsoft highlighted data security concerns among leaders. She revealed that 80% worry about sensitive data leaks while 88% fear indirect prompt injection attacks. Borkar underscored the importance of prioritising security when developing AI systems to ensure safe usage.
The global cybersecurity market is projected to reach $298.5 billion by 2028, according to Markets and Markets. The event's opening day featured panel discussions on AI's influence on cybersecurity strategies. These sessions explored how organisations can adapt to evolving threats through innovative solutions.

GISEC Global 2025 continues with engaging discussions on pressing AI issues such as weaponised large language models (LLMs) and next-gen AI-powered defences. Hosted by the UAE Cyber Security Council and supported by DESC, the UAE Ministry of Interior, and Dubai Police, it promises insightful debates on these critical topics.
