GCAA Launches Second Cohort Of National Programme For Future Leaders In Civil Aviation To Empower Young Emiratis

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), in partnership with the UAE Government Leaders Programme, has introduced the second group of the National Programme for Future Leaders in Civil Aviation. This initiative was unveiled during the 42nd Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada. Attendees included Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the GCAA Board, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, and other senior UAE officials.

The programme is designed to empower young Emirati talents with leadership potential. It aims to enhance their professional and leadership skills, preparing them to contribute significantly to the UAE aviation sector's growth. "We are pleased to launch the second cohort of the National Programme for Future Leaders in Civil Aviation," said Al Marri. "This programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to investing in young minds."

GCAA Launches Future Leaders Programme Cohort

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi highlighted that this initiative underscores GCAA’s dedication to nurturing young national talents. He stated that these individuals are crucial for maintaining competitiveness and progress in aviation. "Preparing tomorrow's leaders is essential for continuing UAE’s successes in civil aviation," he added.

Eng. Saeed Al Suwaidi, UAE’s Permanent Representative to ICAO, expressed confidence that participating Emirati talents will bolster UAE’s presence in international organisations. The programme serves as a strategic platform combining practical and academic training in leadership, protocol, and strategic planning within civil aviation.

Participants engage directly with leadership roles and national initiatives shaping civil aviation's future both locally and globally. This year’s cohort includes 21 promising young Emiratis from various sectors such as GCAA, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Airports, Sharjah Civil Aviation Department, and Ras Al Khaimah Civil Aviation Department.

Programme Duration and Objectives

Spanning 10 months, participants gain practical experience alongside advanced strategic knowledge. This enhances their leadership skills while reinforcing UAE’s position as a leading force in aviation's future. The programme represents a strategic step toward developing national talents capable of supporting the country's future vision.
