ODA Explores Future Of Philanthropy And Impact Investing At Investopia 2025

The Office of Development Affairs (ODA) at the Presidential Court hosted a discussion and roundtable on philanthropy's future during Investopia 2025. This event, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focused on maximising philanthropy's social impact in developing countries. The theme was "Harnessing MegaForces," bringing together global leaders to discuss positive transformations worldwide.

During the session titled "Capital for Good: The Future of Philanthropy," emphasis was placed on donors diversifying their efforts. Collaboration with relevant organisations is crucial to engage various beneficiary segments and develop innovative solutions to challenges. This approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of philanthropic activities globally.

Future of Philanthropy at Investopia 2025

Badr Jafar, UAE’s Special Envoy for Business and Philanthropy, highlighted a shift in philanthropy towards innovation and strategic capital deployment. He stated, "Philanthropy is entering a new era, one defined by innovation, strategic capital deployment, and measurable impact." The UAE is becoming a hub for philanthropy by fostering cross-sector collaboration and embracing technology.

AI and digital platforms are revolutionising how donations are mobilised and scaled. These technologies are moving from traditional giving to catalytic capital that unlocks new resources. This shift aims to drive systemic change by leveraging technology and innovation effectively.

The roundtable titled "From Niche to Norm: The Future of Impact Investing" explored impactful charitable investments using modern methods. High-level government leaders, CEOs, investors, and civil society representatives discussed mainstream adoption of impact investing. They emphasised transparency, data-driven impact tracking, and blended finance models as key factors in scaling this sector.

With significant wealth transfers anticipated in the coming decades, the roundtable underscored how impact investing is shaping finance's future. By focusing on these aspects, participants aim to maximise positive social progress through innovative investment strategies.

The panel included notable figures such as Baroness Ariane de Rothschild from Edmond de Rothschild Group and Tsitsi Masiyiwa from Higher Life Foundation. Dr. Alfonso Garcia Mora also contributed insights as Regional Vice President for Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
